Stage 2 Looking for shapes and drawing
For these exercises, I chose a piece of wrapping paper which had some interesting motifs. I spent some time with a 5cm square viewing frame, investigating different arrangements. I chose four different views and then set about representing them in different ways. I used watercolour pencils and black ink. I then added some thicker black line.
I really enjoyed this exercise and decided later to use other templates. First, I investigated other shapes found in a black ink drawing I had done in my sketchbook, using an oven glove-shaped template.
I then used other doodles from my sketchbook and a cup-shape template.
These exercises were highly enjoyable and I could have spent hours on them but felt I ought to get onto the next exercises.
